GHS is a youth arts charity based in Trafford dedicated to providing support through creative engagement and access to the arts and culture to young people 5-25 years.

We work with young people encouraging them to value themselves by taking an active role in their community and learning. We support them with building achievable aspirational pathways for their futures.

We offer long-term interventions tailored to the needs of everyone, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for the child.

 

What will you be doing in this role:

As a qualified Art Therapist, you will be making a positive impact on the lives of girls and women aged 16-25 who face barriers to accessing creative therapies.

You will be working on the creative therapies project that is geared around supporting young women and girls considered vulnerable, disadvantaged or under-served who face several barriers including homelessness risks, drug, and alcohol misuse, chaotic homelives, low or no income, disabilities, or neuro diversity to name a few, to access creative therapies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough and comprehensive assessments to understand the needs of children and adolescents.

  • Deliver creative psychotherapy sessions in a face-to-face setting, tailored to the unique requirements of each individual or group.

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to help young people navigate through challenges and make progress in their therapeutic journey.

  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies involved in the care and support of young individuals, ensuring a coordinated approach to addressing their needs.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all interactions and sessions conducted, adhering to confidentiality and data protection regulations.

  • Stay updated on best practices and developments in the field of creative therapies, incorporating relevant knowledge and techniques into practice.

  • Foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to therapeutic exploration and growth for young people participating in the programme.

 

Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Relevant Master’s Degree

  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience with children and young people.

  • Experience in working with both young adults and children.

  • Experience in creative psychotherapy.

 

Requirements:

  • Valid DBS certification

  • Professional indemnity insurance

  • Membership in a relevant professional body

  • Full UK Driver's license.

  • To have access and attend professional supervision.

Over the last 20 years we have improved the life chances of thousands of young people aged 8- 25 years who face complex transitions to adulthood. We work with young people, using an ‘arts combined with youth work,’ focusing our services through inclusion, disability, youth voice, alternative learning and creative engagement.
 

We are excited to be looking for additional Trustees to join our established Board at GHSCC. This is a great opportunity if you have a genuine passion for enhancing outcomes for children and young people.

 

For these positions, we’re hoping to hear from individuals with strategic vision and good judgment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their integrity and commitment to the organisational values. We are particularly looking for people from the local community and people with strong knowledge, skills and experience in one of the following areas: legal matters, fundraising, marketing, and communications, as well as those with experience in Alternative Education Provision.
 

Your responsibilities as a Trustee:

  • You will actively engage in shaping GHSCC's future, leveraging your unique skills, knowledge, and experience to inform sound decision-making.

  • Ensure GHSCC's compliance with governing documents, charity law, and relevant legislation, aligned with its stated objectives.

  • Oversee the effective and efficient administration of the charity, maintaining financial control and utilising resources in pursuit of its objectives.

  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive & Board to establish a robust strategic direction, setting vision, mission, and values. Define strategic objectives, set targets, and evaluate performance against agreed benchmarks. Contribute to enhancing Board performance.

  • Safeguard GHSCC's reputation, ensuring proper management and insurance of property and funds.

  • Approve and monitor policy implementation (Governance, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity), with comprehensive risk assessments.
     

Trustees can expect a formal induction, meet four times a year for evening meetings in person at Gorse Hill, Trafford so ability to travel to this location is essential.
